Beauty Te Anau – Lake Wakatipu and Staircase Devil
From previous post Freezing trip at Te Anau and Milford Sound
Back from magnificent Milford Sound on afternoon and heading straight back to Queenstown city. Since it already daylight, we can enjoy flora and fauna along the road we missed from early morning. Road view in dark and bright is total different. And this time we can see the road a bit frosty. Our target are Te Anau Lake Wakatipu and Devil Staircase.
Stopping a while at Fiordland National Park lake and then straight to Te Anau town for having lunch. We buy lunch food pack at Fresh Choice. Fresh Choice offer quite a lot of food pack and consumer variety. Then we stop at beauty Te Anau Lake to having lunch at the lake side. Its another beautiful lake and we enjoying eating there.
Once our tummy satisfied with the food, the journey continue and next stop is beauty Devil Staircase, nearby Queenstown. I think this my favorite spot after Milford Sound. Fantastic, all blue, clear crystal water. All in one. If it not because of winter and the water is so cold, I might have a bath here. This is the beauty of Te Anau Lake Wakatipu and Devil Staircase
From Kingston point, its part of Lake Wakatipu to Queenstown is just around 30 minute. And we arrived just nice with sunset. Our next and last accommodation is PineWood Lodge.
Review PineWood Lodge
- Room are nice and neat
- Lots of block from room with kitchen to backpackers room
- Quiet and peaceful
- Lots of parking
Once we have our dinner in room, we go to town again for another round to explore, sightseeing and buy some souvenir (in freezing night).
Early morning. Last day before we catching flight on afternoon. We heading to Arrowtown. This time its different landscape, from lake almost the time, now its more to hill and seeing tree with colorful leaves is another unforgettable moment. But despite all this beautiful places, we are so freezing. Its -3 degree. Hand are always in pocket except when taking picture. There are Historic Chinese Settlement village here.
Now the trip almost at the end, from Arrowtown, we straight to Queenstown airport to return our lovely Jucy rental car. Luckily our flight boarding on time so we can catch up our 4 hours buffer time for our next flight from Auckland back to Kuala Lumpur.
